about

"At the invitation of Kind Winds, we are to linger long out here, where the singer delivers immersed within a sonic fabric soaked in reverberation, almost whispering at times, waiting for the listener inside the shapely flow of sound. A sound versed in a patterned-abstract-blues bleeding across a stellar map of rhythmic nods to the past, and in turn lending our senses the tools to explore a vista of outer limits beyond the echo.

Toothless Tuesday greets us in motions beautifully woven throughout, never forgetting in its sonic bubbling not to explode too suddenly, Sat Jam 12:55 could be just that, band seated on the floor of some rented space for the afternoon, Johnny Rip Off shades us in melodic streams, flowing in perfectly prescribed measures, as a tune of dazed-pop is unpacked by the band, before lingering into an echoing canyon of opaque, Spaceman Four, and a narcotic bathroom rocker Dr Shoes (1st One) phones in to assist your shaking disposition, guitars cross-hatching needle sounds, the sudden release from opiated scenes delivers us into the vibrating Goulburn Blues and live recorded Anzaks with a skeletal build fermenting like some lost reading of The End. A final hidden treasure completes the journey.

And what comes of the journey inside the minds of unwell men, a desire to remain in the sonic company of Kind Winds. An experience rich in an aural exposure to a band etching their collective souls out in performance, the likes of which the home of its creation, Hobart, misses greatly. But in times without, we have this to remind us. Some music sets up camp in a part of the mind and never leaves. The outer limits provide a view of what might be limitless."
